If you have ADHD, or you know someone who does, you know that living in this world is difficult because those who have ADHD brains don't fit the mold that society has deemed a "healthy brain." I struggled with ADHD all my life. As a child, I heard the same admonitions over and over again. "You talk too much." "Sit still!" "Heidi, does your brain ever stop?" Back when I was a kid, no one knew what ADD or ADHD was. They just labeled those kids as uncontrollable or dysfunctional.
Even today researchers are still learning how the ADHD brain processes. For me, it wasn't until I became an adult that I learning that I had an ADHD brain. As usual, I read and researched the heck out of the topic and came to the conclusion that having an ADHD was like having a Superpower. I mean, I had a brain that could process multiple complex thoughts and could connect them to complex ideas and systems. I could multi-task like nobody else. Plan a party 50 people for tonight? Why yes, yes I can and I can add a thousand details to create the "Disney" experience. My point? If you or someone you know has ADHD, it's NOT a disorder; however, our brains do not fit society's brain mold so we still struggle. In fact, society's brain mold is like our cryptonite because the more we try to fit in, the more taxed our brains become causing the brain to work even faster! It's the villain in our ADHD story.
Reiki to the Rescue
When I started my Reiki training, the thought occurred to me that my over-taxed fast brain could be relieved with Reiki! Woohoo! You see, Reiki helps to balance the energy in the body that leads to fast brain. Reiki can do this in different ways.
Reiki Reduces stress and anxiety
One of the main benefits of Reiki is its ability to reduce stress and anxiety. Stress and anxiety are common symptoms of ADHD, and they can make it more difficult to manage other ADHD symptoms, such as inattention and hyperactivity. Reiki helps to promote a sense of relaxation and calmness, which can help individuals with ADHD to better manage their symptoms. When you are calm, your brain can slow down, giving your mind and body to process.
Reiki Balances Energy
ADHD can be caused by an imbalance in energy flow within the body. By channeling, balancing, and directing energy, Reiki can help restore balance and promote healing, while also improving symptoms of ADHD and promoting better sleep.
Reiki Improves Focus and Attention
Another benefit of Reiki therapy for ADHD is that it helps improve focus and attention. This is probably the most common symptom of ADHD--The struggle to stay focused on tasks and keeping that focused attention. People with ADHD don't intend to loose focus, but when our environment is slow, our brains can't cope, so our brains move to another topic. When ADHD brains are calm, they can handle just about anything thrown at them and Reiki helps to promote calmness, which makes it easier to focus and concentrate.
Reiki Addresses Psychological Issues
Reiki can also be used to address underlying emotional or psychological issues that could be contributing to ADHD symptoms. By working to address these underlying issues related to energy flow, Reiki can help improve overall well-being.
